It’s happening again. The days when you walk into any grocery store or shopping mall and they’ve got the SoftBank Hawks theme song on loop. I really like this song, both the somewhat militaristic version and the less threatening one done by the group AAA. But I gotta feel sorry for the cashiers and stock people that have to listen to it 8 hours a day. ^o^;
Anyway, to help all the non-Japanese speaking people in Fukuoka who may be starting to wonder what this song is, I decided to finally get around to translating and romanizing it. The version currently played at games is the militaristic version, so I’m gonna go with that one both in terms of lyrics and what words I choose. “Young Hawks Corps” sounds a bit funny, but hey, I’m not the one that put 「軍団」(=army corps) in the lyrics. Though really the only difference lyrically with the AAA version is that they use the exclamation “sore!” instead of “hey!” and the AAA one adds the English chant “We are the champ!” which I can do without. ^_^; Apparently this song was written for the Hawks back when they were the Daiei Hawks. (So says Wikipedia.)
I wrote the Japanese lyrics first, followed by the romaji and translation to English. I estimate the translation’s accuracy to be around 90%. Original lyrics by 原田種良.* Enjoy~

*<Side trip> So, I was trying to get the reading for this lyricist’s name. I know that 原田 is probably Harada, but I don’t know about 種良 and Jim Breen’s Names Dictionary is drawing a blank! So I Google the whole name, and end up at a Yahoo Chiebukuro (=Yahoo Answers) question where someone is complaining that all of the aging players on the Hawks makes fools out of the fans for having them sing something like “Young Hawk Corps” and that they are “hawks who can’t fly.” ^o^;;; This after the Japanese Wikipedia article said the song is loved by Fukuoka’s people and is often done in karaoke! And I still don’t know how to say this person’s first name! </Side trip>
